Terminal E, George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston, Tx
Terminal E is Continental Airlines' latest Flagship Terminal, which will bring a new level of amenities and convenience to the hub.
This massive, 600,000 square foot facility is a “U”-shaped 23-gate double pier expansion serving as primary international arrivals for Continental Airlines, but also providing domestic Sectors as well.
This expansion is housed in a three story steel frame structure that is clad in metal panels and energy efficient glazing. The two wings provide a double - loaded concourse with comfortable gate lounges overlooking views of aircraft operations. At the third level, above the lounges, are corridors for arriving international passengers leading to a connector bridge and the FIS inspection station that are accessed by segregated vertical circulation cores. These corridors have views either onto the airfield or into the double-height boarding level concourse providing the arriving passenger a pleasant passage while walking or on moving sidewalks. At the center of the landside connecting corridor, an elliptical building module, glazed in blue, accentuates the merging of passengers from both wings as they transition from Terminal E to the FIS building being built by the Houston Airport System.
